DAN SISE, JD, joined the Nonprofit Management and Leadership Program (NPML Program) atU.M. – St. Louis in October, 2008, and serves as the NPML Program’s Academic Coordinatorand Community Engagement Manager. Dan is also an Assistant Professional Practice Professorin the Public Policy Administration Program at UMSL.A 1997 graduate of the University of Illinois College of Law, Dan is currently licensed topractice law in Missouri and Illinois. In the course of his legal career, Dan has dealt with a widerange of issues, including regulatory compliance, insurance coverage and defense, communityredevelopment, and nonprofit governance and oversight. He has served on the board of directorsof a number of nonprofit organizations in the St. Louis area, including both foundations/funders,and direct service providers. Prior to joining the faculty of the NPML, Dan worked at Habitat for Humanity as the operations manager.
Participate in this web-based class for a primer on how to start a Missouri nonprofit corporation that will seek to obtain 501(c)(3) tax exempt status from the IRS. In addition, this class will also cover the basics of good governance policies, strategies, and requirements that will allow your organization to maintain its 501(c)(3) tax exempt status on an ongoing basis once you are up and running.
Note that this class is meant to provide a basic introduction, and broad overview, on how to start a Missouri nonprofit corporation that goes on to apply for 501(c)(3) tax exempt status. Further, to be clear, this class will focus on applicable Missouri law, requirements, and standards that come into play in the process (vs. state laws and processes that might be different in other states).
As a result of participating in this session, attendees will be able to:
Gain an understanding of how to start a Missouri nonprofit corporation that will seek to obtain 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status from the IRS.
Gain and understanding of good governance policies, strategies, and requirements that will allow your organization to maintain its 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status
